NHHS Athletics
Newport Harbor High School has water polo, volleyball, baseball and football teams. Its teams currently compete in the Sunset League of the California Interscholastic Federation‘s Southern Section. NHHS teams are known as the Sailors, though fans also refer to them as the “Tars.” The school colors are primarily blue and grey, and Tommy Tar, a representation of Popeye the Sailor Man, is the mascot.
